RESOURCES WE LOVE - AND WE THINK YOU WILL TOO!

Take a look!  Here are some of Global Room for Women's favorite educational resources, exhibits, products and films that we think you'll love - a great enhancement  to the time you're spending with us in June!

WOMEN'S PEACE COLLECTION

Amber is the Founder of The Women’s Peace Collection, a social enterprise that supports women’s micro-enterprises primarily in regions of conflict and post-conflict. Her company offers high quality, meaningful gifts created by talented craftswomen who are rebuilding their lives in the shadows of war, genocide, civil strife and crippling poverty.

CIRCLE CONNECTIONS

Circle Connections provides a modern-day ‘Well’ and online connective force guided by Circle Principles to empower and connect women and girls for the greater good.

AMERICAN FRIENDS SERVICE COMMITTEE

Windows and Mirrors: Reflections on the War in Afghanistan is a travelling mural exhibit that makes a powerful statement on a nearly invisible reality. The forty-five unique panels created by international artists and US students help us imagine the experience of Afghan civilians - from death and destruction to hopes for peace. Drawings by Afghan students in Kabul – collected in June 2010 – provide an up close look at life in a war zone. At over 900 square feet, this mural is not a single painting, but an oversized statement on the human cost of war. If you would like to help bring this project into your community please send email to
exhibit @ afsc.org.

BUDRUS

In Just Vision's recent award-winning film Budrus, which the New York Times called "this year's must-see documentary," a Palestinian community organizer united Palestinians of all factions together with Israelis in an unarmed movement to save his village from destruction. Victory looks improbable until his 15-year-old daughter launches a women's contingent that quickly moves to the front lines. To celebrate the recent release of Budrus on DVD, Just Vision is proud to offer members and followers of Global Room for Women a discounted community screening package of Budrus. To order, please e-mail dvd @ justvision.org with the subject line 'Global Room for Women Budrus Package.'

TIKKUN

Tikkun is a magazine dedicated to healing and transforming the world. We seek articles that directly or indirectly give us new insight on how to make that healing and transformation a reality.

WORLD PULSE

World Pulse is a global media and communication network devoted to bringing women a global voice. We broadcast and unite women's voices from around the world into a powerful force for change. We produce a print and web magazine as well as host an interactive community newswire, PulseWire, where women can speak for themselves to the world and connect to solve global problems.

PACE E BENE

turtle

Pace e Bene's Traveling with the Turtle can help you unleash the power and share the wisdom that you possess deep within, in order to make peace with yourself, in your relationships, communities, and in society. Through ritual, exercises, readings and life practices, this thirteen-part group process empowers you to work for peace in ways that are practical, creative, inclusive and nonviolent.

WNN

Using the highest standard in journalism WNN – Women News Network is dedicated to bringing you in-depth international women’s news not found in our current public media stream. Receiving recognition by UNESCO as a news network showing, “Professional Standards and Code of Ethics,” our approach to journalism has been included in a new UNESCO program launch to help train East European news media the importance of greater transparency and quality in reporting. We believe strongly that news needs to come first from on-the-ground eye-witness reports, and not the other way, from "authorities" who are not connected to the important everyday issues that affect global women inside regions.

JEWISH-PALESTINIAN LIVING ROOM DIALOGUE

The 19-year-old Jewish-Palestinian Living Room Dialogue in July 2011 reached 229 meetings on the San Francisco Peninsula.  Hundreds of outreach activities include gifting worldwide how-to, inspirational materials including their films: (1) PEACEMAKERS: Palestinians & Jews Together at Camp, (2) DIALOGUE AT WASHINGTON HIGH, and (3) CROSSING LINES IN FRESNO.  The dedicated Muslim, Jewish, and Christian women and men experience that "an enemy is one whose story we have not heard."

GLOBAL ONENESS PROJECT

The Global Oneness Project produces films, media and education materials that explore how the simple notion of interconnectedness can be lived in today's complex world. Women all over the globe will find that their films and interviews touch upon a range of themes, including social justice, community initiatives, peace, conflict resolution, religion and spirituality, economics, the environment and more. Their most recent offering, Living Oneness Study Guide: Restoring Wholeness in a Fragmented World, is a valuable tool for individuals, study groups, educators, businesswomen, and anyone inspired to better understand a way of being in the world that is ultimately about service and stewardship.

Creative Films

In this featured title, A Parliament of Minds, Bettina Gray shares 20 half-hour interviews with the world's leading philosophers filmed at the World Congress of Philosophers in Boston.  Visit her Creative Films site to learn more about Bettina's interviews, music, photos, public speaking, and publications.

What Women Are Saying

"We live in a world designed to keep
real at a minimum. Global Room for Women is the first website that I've found (and I've looked) that promotes real conversations between real
people."
-  B. Samuel, Artist, Iowa.

"The Global Room was life changing for me. I was blown away! I am usually not impressed by these kinds of teleconferences but thought GRW was wonderful. It made me feel not so alone on this planet."
- A. Olivier, Texas

"I am trying to find ways to change the world I inherited. The only way is through other people. The GRW feeds that part of me that needs to be opened and wants ideas and mutual experience to face the immense challenges. "

- M.Levy, Activist, Wisconsin
